Monster Hunter: What is it about, release date and more about the film adaptation of the video game


Following the same line of adaptations of successful video games to fiction in the cinema there is one franchise in particular that has a long time to wait to be brought to the big screen: Monster Hunter. The franchise on its original platform has the fantastic as its context and after releasing countless versions for different platforms, the next step is a film based on one of its stories. The video game is first person, so the user takes the Monster Hunter wikipedia main role of the hunter and must face endless challenges to annihilate giant monsters in different settings.

Monster Hunter tells the story of two characters from completely different worlds whose skills must complement each other to face large enemies. One of the protagonists is Military Lieutenant Artemis, played by Milla Jovovich. Second on board is a man named The Hunter, and it's Tony Jaa's job to bring it to life. Of course, the Artemis crew has to trust the mysterious man if they want to escape safely from dangerous scenarios.



The film is now complete and ready to be released with a classification for over 13 years (PG-13), which makes us think that it will be much less violent than the games have become and will focus more on the design of creatures and action sequences. We must not forget that the people who started this potential film saga are the same people who brought Resident Evil to the cinema, so we have certain expectations.

Paul W.S. Anderson, the same filmmaker behind the Resident Evil saga, having his muse and wife in real life: Milla Jovovich as the leader of this new saga. Next to her are actors such as Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman, Meagan Good, among others. And just one of the members of this cast is our compatriot Diego Boneta, whose character has not yet been revealed, but who does not hesitate to get excited when we see him on the big screen.

A MONASTER HUNTER FILM TEASER HAS BEEN FILTERED



After the good reception of the Sonic movie, the expectations for the film adaptation of Monster Hunter imdb are quite positive. A couple of weeks ago, the posters of this feature film  will be shown, and now a small teaser has been leaked that shows us on video what the characters of the film will look like in action, and the colossal size of the monsters that will appear.



The following clip was shown at the 2019 Shanghai International Film Festival, and is currently airing in some theaters in Japan as a preview before other films. Because it was recorded from a screen, this teaser has not been officially released, and was probably shown to see the reaction of a specific audience.

The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (responsible for Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Event Horizon), and will take a couple of creative liberties to adapt the Monster Hunter theme to the widest possible audience, while retaining the original essence. Monster Hunter will hit theaters on September 4, 2020.


Monster Hunter movie keeps its release date, at least for now


The Coronavirus pandemic has paralyzed virtually everyone and this has been affected in many areas, including entertainment, with many films being delayed by the Coronavirus, either because filming has been stopped or because decided to move the release date.

But it seems that this will not be the case with Monster Hunter wikipedia, the real image film that will adapt the popular video game franchise and which stars Milla Jovovich. As he has commented to Deadline Martin Moszkowicz, maximum responsible for Constantin Films, has confirmed that the filming of the movie Monster Hunter is finished and that its release date, scheduled for September 3, 2020, is still intact for the moment.

Under the direction of Paul W.S. Anderson, who has been behind the scenes in several of the Resident Evil movies, the Monster Hunter cast consists of Milla Jovovich, Diego Boneta, Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman, T.I. Harris, Nic Rasenti, Josh Helman and Jannik Schümann, among others.



The official Monster Hunter synopsis reads: "Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that control their domains with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world To the new world, the imperturbable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In a desperate battle for her survival against monstrous enemies with incredible and unstoppable powers, Artemis must join a mysterious man who has found a way to combat them. "

Monster Hunter movie is complete and so far keeps its release date


The world situation caused by COVID-19 has led to the postponement of the premiere and the suspension of production of several films and series. Without going any further, during the last hours Sony changed the date for the debut of several Monster Hunter imdb productions including adaptations of Morbius, Uncharted and the new film of Ghostbusters.

In this scenario, the president of Constantin Film, Martin Moszkowicz, spoke with Deadline about what the future holds for the films and series covered by that company, among which two intriguing titles for video game fans stand out: the new film by Monster Hunter and the Resident Evil series that is in development for Netlix.



Regarding the Monster Hunter movie that will be starring Milla Jovovich, Moszkowicz argued that the movie is complete and until now would continue to point to its previous release date.

The Monster Hunter movie will be directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil) and its premiere would still be set for September 4 in the United States. But of course, the permanence of that plan will depend on the contingency.

On the other hand, despite the fact that during the interview Moszkowicz never directly addressed the state of development of the Resident Evil series, the president of Constantin Film hinted that this and other television projects would be in a kind of limbo due to the suspension of their production.

"We had to completely shut down (production) at more than 30 shows mainly things made in Germany, and in the Czech Republic and Romania," Moszkowicz said.

Cate Blanchett to play Lilith in Borderlands film, to be directed by Eli Roth


Actress Cate Blanchett, famous for playing Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings, will star in Lionsgate's adaptation of the Borderlands film. This has been confirmed by several sources to Variety, which announces that Blanchett will play Lilith, one of the six "Mermaids", women with incredible and mysterious powers.

The film is currently in the pre-production phase, but there is already a selected director: Eli Roth, author of horror films such as Toc Toc, Hostel or Cabin Fever. Craig Mazin, creator of the award-winning Chernobyl series, is responsible for the script. Interestingly, Mazin is also involved in another video game project, the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us.

Randy Pitchford, co-founder of Gearbox, serves as executive producer on the film, along with Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive. Avi Arad (producer of the Spider-Man movies) is also involved.

Little else is known about this project, which is waiting for the green light from Lionsgate (producer of The Hunger Games) to start shooting. Surely, things will not begin to move until after the havoc that the pandemic is causing, which in the world of cinema has forced to stop filming worldwide, has subsided.



The adaptations to video game cinema are gradually gaining pace, thanks to the success of films such as Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and Sonic The Movie, the difficulty has the strange honor of being one of the last blockbusters to be released before the COVID explosion- 19)

The Monster Hunter film is slated (although it may well be delayed) this year, and the summer of 2021 will feature the adaptation of Uncharted.
